My Own Loft in Elle Décor Magazine

I’m ever so grateful to Elle Décor magazine for featuring the re-design of my own loft in their April 2022 issue.  In my very personal home, modern furnishings are juxtaposed with period pieces as well as those personally sourced finds from my remote travels.  As an inveterate traveler, I bring the world home to my peaceful and ever-evolving Manhattan loft.  My art-filled apartment mixes such treasures as a 19th century daybed I picked up in Borneo, a Burmese table repurposed as a vanity, Stupa antiques from Thailand, several mid-century pieces from Paris – and many custom furnishings of my own design.  Museum quality art, and especially my black and white photograph collection that rest throughout on picture rails, are continually being shifted around.  I find that if pieces stay in place, they become part of the background rather than maintaining their visual interest.  My loft is an invigorating, sophisticated and edgy-yet-warm space pairing furnishings that are both calming and simultaneously add a certain tension to the environment.  This is my happy place.

Saatva on Vicente Wolf Interior Design for Hispanic Heritage Month

Vicente has been designing Saatva Mattress showrooms across the country. In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, they crafted this video citing his interior design philosophy interwoven with images of his creative process. In a career spanning 50 years, the Cuban-born interior designer has built his legacy from the ground up and shows no signs of slowing down. Here is their homage to Vicente In honor of #HispanicHeritageMonth.

Wolf was delighted to add his interior design vision to Saatva’s NY flagship store on December 4, 2019 (as well as the upcoming opening of their Washington DC and Los Angeles locations). The Viewing Room, as they call, “is a sensory experience that represents what Saatva stands for,” said designer Vicente Wolf. “When you enter, it’s about evoking a dream-like experience as customers meander through the space and discover the beds.”   With a nod to the warmth and drama of an upscale emporium, Vicente Wolf Associates designed a space that has a whimsical, dreamlike quality.  Without the harsh fluorescent lighting employed by other mattress companies, Vicente incorporated a sophisticated, neutral palette of taupe and grays wrapped in a surreal landscape, guests are swept away to explore and experience Saatva’s full range of luxury sleep products.  Design elements include, a stair sculpture built into the wall, large Greek urn, two silvery ‘fantasy trees,’ striking recessed ceiling cutouts that evoke the sky and several distinctive seating arrangements interwoven between bed displays in various settings.  Shoppers experience an environment that, by design, will evoke a restful ambiance.  Visit their flagship NY viewing room to see Vicente’s work.

Deep Dive with Dara

Vicente continues to amaze as he defines and describes his creative process for interiors.  In a webinar hosted by DARA CAPONIGRO, the well-regarded Creative Director for F. Schumacher & Co and former Editor-in-Chief of Veranda and before that, Founding Editor of Domino who also held several senior editorial posts and House Beautiful and Elle Décor magazines, Vicente shares his interior design secrets.  This Deep Dive with Dara webinar examines how Vicente conceptualizes furniture layouts with architectural alterations he has developed in floorplans.

My divine collaboration with Vicente Wolf, featured in this month issue of PaperCity Magazine – “I always wanted to design jewelry, and working with Katie provided special moments. Her focus on spirituality helped me find a peaceful comfort when merging interior design with jewelry design. Not only is this collection a token of our love for design, it represents our inner peace.”-VW // shop the collection: https://goo.gl/dRrV9k #Jewelry #Nature #Collaboration #KSxVW#VicenteWolf — with Vicente Wolf.

This has been a busy week for me as I traveled to Tbilisi, Georgia to wrap up a commercial/residential project, booked a TV appearance to discuss design and then hosted a book signing to complete the trip.  After 4 days in Tbilisi,  I had the pleasure to attend a private dinner at Leila Heller Gallery hosted by Galerie Magazine in NYC.  An artful ending to a busy week!
